East Kent Goldings Hop Candy by B Hoppy
East Kent Goldings started their long journey to what they are today in the late 1700’s through conal selection, a fancy way of saying selective breeding. Its original ancestor was called Cantebury Whitebline and today is seen quite a bit in British Style Ales. Their cones are rather large and grow loosely from each other making them harder to harvest. Although some may call this a dual use hop it really is used mostly for aroma additions to the brewing process. With delicate floral notes of lavender, spice, honey, thyme, lemon and earth they makes for an absolutely delicious hard Hop Candy!
Some notable beers made with East Kent Golding Hops include:
-Brooklyn IPA by Brooklyn Brewery
-Saison de la Bond by Deschutes Brewing
-Cabin Fever by New Glarus
-Confluence Ale by Allagash
